The MQ01ABBDH is the top-of-the-line series of 2.5-inch mobile HDD, offering 1TB and 750GB capacities, onto which Toshiba has applied its Hybrid Drive architecture, which features self-learning user profile algorithms coupled with sophisticated NAND flash algorithms that provide fast performance and file responsiveness while utilizing the 1TB or 750GB* storage capacities supported by the underlying HDD.
Toshiba's Hybrid Drive combines the dual-platter magnetic storage of its highest capacity mobile HDD with wear-resistant NAND flash, where 8GB of fast cache is dedicated for system usage and another 32MB allocated for alternative caching purposes. Together, the integration of HDD provides massive storage capacity while the NAND flash reduces boot time, increases immediate read/write speeds and enhances the overall data processing times, resulting in faster system performance. User benefits include significantly faster system boot-up times as well as quicker access to user applications, whether they be photos, music or strictly data based files.
Toshiba's MQ01ABH series Hybrid Drive tracks and stores frequently used data in its dedicated NAND cache so that the data is quickly accessible upon host command. Data accesses are monitored to off-load less-frequently used files to mass storage for long term storage, freeing up fast-data access space for data and files that are more frequently accessed by the system user. The intelligence caching schemes used in the Toshiba Hybrid Drive enhances the user experience by making all system boot and data accesses significantly faster while ensuring the long-term accessibility of data stored to the Hybrid Drive.
Toshiba’s MQ01ABH Hybrid Drive series will debut in leading, high-end notebook PC systems followed by successive generations of Hybrid Drives to come.

*One Terabyte (1TB) = 1,000 Gigabytes (GB). One Gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. One Megabyte (1MiB) is calculated as 1,048,576 bytes. A computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity.
