BarracudaWare Yosemite Desktop/Laptop Backup Enterprise v2.8 SBDI210-12F Inc. Centralised Policy Server Core Bundle 12X5 License [Standard] |
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Overview
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup is easy-to-use Software designed to continuously backup and protect the data on your Windows computers. Unlike periodic backup Software that operates on a scheduled basis, Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup tracks the revision history of your files as you save or delete them and automatically replicates your backup data to either Network storage or locally attached backup devices, such as USB drives.
Protection of files as they are saved or deleted, not according to a schedule
Near continuous protection of open files, including Microsoft Outlook PST files
End users can rollback to previous versions or restore accidentally delete files without IT Windows Explorer integration through right-click context sensitive menus
Search functionality to recover lost files
File exclusion rules to refine the backup selection policy
Replication of Network storage or locally attached backup device, such as a USB drive
Optional corporate policy Server to standardize data protection policy
Backup Specifically Designed for Desktops and Laptops
While data stored on file servers can typically be backed up on a schedule, desktop computers are often shutdown during typical automatic backups to save power. During these same backup schedules, laptop computers are generally not connected to enterprise networks. Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup is specifically designed to backup and protect data on these desktop and laptop computers by backing up data on a continuous basis when in use, storing changes on file save or file deletion operations locally. For open files, such as Microsoft Outlook PST files, near-continuous protection is facilitated through automated hourly backups to local storage.
Through this local backup Cache Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup enables end users to easily rollback to previous versions or recover accidentally deleted files even when disconnected. Once connected to Network storage or a locally attached backup device, Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup automatically synchronizes all local files and backup caches to a remote data vault stored on the Network storage or backup device to enable complete data recovery in the event of disaster.
Easy to Use
End users can recover data on their own without waiting on their IT groups. When users need to rollback to a previous version, they can right-click on the file name in Windows Explorer to reveal options. Alternately, a control panel available through a Windows system tray icon enables a search for the recovery of lost files.
Flexible
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup enables the specification of file exclusion rules to ensure that only the most important data is backed up. A corporate policy Server is also available to standardize data protection policy across the enterprise.
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Offerings
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup comes in two different levels.
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup is designed for individual users who want to backup files on their own Windows computers and easily restore previous versions of files or accidentally deleted files.
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Enterprise is designed for deployment in enterprises where IT departments want to centrally manage data protection and retention policies through a centralized policy server. Clients run on Windows computers. The included centralized policy Server is a .NET application that runs on either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Server platforms.
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Deployment
For the individual user, Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup consists of two components:
The Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Agent runs locally on each protected Windows computer that backs up files in real-time, as they are being saved to disk, to a local, compressed cache. When the computer is connected to a Network or locally attached backup device, such as a USB drive, the Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Agent replicates (and optionally encrypts) the data to remote storage vaults.
The Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Data Vault can reside on any locally attached backup device for Windows or any Network file system that supports the CIFS Protocol including Windows Server Linux and Unix systems running Samba, and most Network attached storage (NAS) appliances.
In enterprise deployments, the Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup Enterprise architecture entails a third component:
The Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Policy Server runs on a standalone or shared Windows server. The Policy Server enables definition of enterprise-wide policies for file protection, versioning, data protection, and retention, as well as Configuration and monitoring of all Yosemite / Desktop Laptop Backup Agents in the enterprise. A singe Policy Server can support up to 5,000 Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup agents.
