Netstor NR330A-IP4 provides three ways to configure and manage the iSCSI enclosure. The three approaches include the LCD with its control panel, the web GUI, and through console port of iSCSI enclosure for management and configuration. Both the configuration of IP addresses of iSCSI data ports and RAID settings can be achieved by one of the above three ways. In addition, other important functions such as system setting, mail/notification setting, hardware monitor, drives’ S.M.A.R.T. info, system info, and event log can all be accessed through the web GUI remotely on any host from the network. Is there a difference between network drive, backup drive, network hard drive and nas drive?

There is no physical difference between a network drive, backup drive, network hard drive and NAS drive, the MAIN difference is about the use of the equipment. So:

A Network Drive is a area on storage that is useable to anyone on the network and will be visible to the device you are using if you have the correct login/password.

A Backup Drive is a storage device is a area of NAS or DAS storage that is used JUST for backups and only for writing, not reading - it backs up one or multiple devices on a regular basis.


A Network Hard Drive is the same as a network drive, but instead of a portion of online storage that is network/internet accessible, it is an entire disk drive. Much larger and often includes a RAID drive acting as a fall-back.

A NAS Drive can do all of the above. The Hard drives in a NAS Drive for Home are recommended to be WD Red NAS Drives or Seagate Ironwolf NAS drives.

Hi, Could you please advise on the netstor IBN-16R-SR, and is capability in regards to the hard disks that can be used within it. i was looking at possible purchasing this NAS drive with 16 of these hard disks, Hitachi-HGST 4TB disk, product code, ISh7ud4000. Would I be correct in the assumption of using RAID 5 that this would then give 57220.45GB of available storage over iSCSI? if these disks can be used with the NAS? Or if you could suggest an alternative that could be used to obtain the most amount of storage for £10,000? Regards

Thank you for your enquiry. You can use this box with 4TB drives, with RAID 5 you will have active around 60TB. You can use same hard drives in the NAS boxes as well, you will need to refer to NAS compatibility page. What would you like to achieve by using this box as I believe we`ve got 24bay JBOD box in stock and it can be used with Areca raid card. How would you like to connect the box?
