The TS-1685 supports up to 16 hard drives, providing the storage potential to be a high-capacity data center. Its high-quality hardware enables optimum performance to fulfill diversified application needs.

5. 6 x built-in M.2 SSD slots
Supports SATA 6Gb/s M.2 SSD with 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 form factors to provide the greatest flexibility in tiered storage configuration and enables cache acceleration. The TS-1685 features M.2 cooling modules for keeping the M.2 SSDs cool and stable.

Note:M.2 SSD is optional; M.2 cooling modules are built-in.
M.2 SSD operations can easily generate excessive heat, and it is recommended to install a heatsink (from QNAP or a third-party provider) on the M.2 SSD.

The TS-1685 is powered by a high-performance Intel® Xeon® D multi-core processor with up to 128GB DDR4 RAM (comes preinstalled with 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB RAM), delivering outstanding performance with up to 2,339 MB/s throughout to enhance the efficiency of CPU-demanding applications such as virtualization and large numbers of simultaneous connections.

M.2 SATA 6Gb/s SSD & 2.5” SSD cache with Qtier optimization
The TS-1685 provides four 2.5” SSD slots dedicated for caching to increase IOPS performance, and supports higher transfer speeds and reliability with optional six M.2 SATA 6Gb/s SSDs. Using an SSD cache boosts overall system performance, and is perfect for improving the overall workflow of random IOPS demanding applications such as virtualization. QNAP’s Qtier Technology empowers the TS-1685 with Auto Tiering that further helps continuously optimize storage efficiency across M.2 SSD, SSD, high-capacity SATA drives, and the optional PCIe NVMe SSD with around-the-clock acceleration. Qtier now supports “On Demand Allocation Priority”, providing customizable flexibility to arrange tiered storage suited for your system environments and application demands.

550W power supply fuels GPU passthrough
Graphics cards are optimized for graphical calculations and transformations, but require significantly more power compared to other hardware. The TS-1685 offers an option with a 550 watt power supply that is capable of powering an AMD Radeon™ RX 480 graphics card for smooth GPU passthrough to virtual machines.
